Williams Lake & Area is the place to fulfill all your Outdoor Recreation needs.

Camping
Pack the tent or load the trailer, the Cariboo is the perfect region to get away in! With over 10 provincial parks & 100’s of forestry recreation sites camping is the best way to see the true wilderness. Every camp ground offers different facilities but usually consist of picnic tables, fire pits and pit toilets. Some offer boat launches, fishing, swimming, walk in camping & day-use only, before heading out get the correct information for that specific campsite. Every camp ground in the area varies in size, from a couple campsites to over 50 campsites. Camping can connect you with so many more outdoor activities to make your trip so much more worthwhile!

Mountain Biking
Equipped with 3 Mountain Bike Trail Networks in Williams Lake & many more in the area, it doesn’t matter how experienced you are there is something for everyone. Westsyde Trail Network is the biggest with over 55 trails. The trail network is connected to the beautiful 12km Williams Lake River Valley Trail. This trail is a popular flat place to go walking, jogging or for a sightseeing bike ride.

Hiking
With Scout Island Nature Centre for little ones to run about all the way to Russet Buff for the more experienced, hiking in Williams Lake is unlimited. Looking for a 15 minute walk or stretch, Scout Island is the place. Complete with beginner trails & sightseeing views right on Williams Lake. Russet Bluff on South Lakeside is an uphill trial to the top of the mountain for a gorgeous view of Williams Lake.     

Canoeing/Kayaking
Not only are there thousands of lakes to go canoeing or kayaking on, there are also a few very popular canoe circuits. A popular circuit being the Bowron Lake canoe circuit with approximately 116km of circuit.  Also in the area are Turner Lake Canoe Chain, Nazko Lake Provincial Park, & the Moose Valley Canoe Route.

Horseback Riding
Become a cowboy whether it is for a couple hours or for an overnight trip. There are a variety of areas in the Cariboo to go for a horseback trip.   Let a visitor counsellor know what type of trip you’re looking for and they will do there best to book it for you.

Waterfalls
Take a day drive and a little hike to one of the waterfalls in the area. The most popular falls are located at Horsefly & Likely. Grab a map and check them all out. 


River Rafting
There's excellent rivers all over the Cariboo for River Rafting Trips, rivers include Chilcotin River and Quesnel River. Big Canyon Rafting out of Quesnel will help you discover you joy for this thrill seeking activity. 

Skiing Cross Country/Downhill
Bull Mountain is the local cross country skiing trail network. Just 20 minutes north of Williams Lake is 28km of well groomed trails. For downhill skiing, the locals head to Mount Timothy. Just 83kms south of Williams Lake Mt. Timothy is equipped with a chair lift or magic carpet lift to take you to 35 runs for every age & level of ability.

ATV/Snowmobiling
The Cariboo Chilcotin has abundance of trails for both ATVing & Snowmobiling. These trails take you to some of the area’s greatest views & scenery. Be sure not to trespass on private property, ask at the local visitor centre for trail maps.
